SUSTAINABLE & ETHICAL PRODUCTION
At April Notes, we're committed to minimizing overproduction and textile waste. Thus our handmade pieces are created on an on-demand basis, ensuring that we only sew what's needed, when it's needed. This approach eliminates the production of excess inventory, which often leads to unsold goods and unnecessary waste.
By working closely with our boutique atelier, instead of a large factory, we're able to maintain the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, while also ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions for the artisans.
EARTH-FRIENDLY MATERIALS
We are passionate about creating high-quality products that are also gentle to the environment. Our linen, cotton, and merino wool are all certified to be free from artificial dyes and harsh chemicals, ensuring that our products are safe for both you and the planet.
However, our commitment to sustainability does not end there. We believe that every small detail counts. That's why we take great care in sourcing eco-conscious materials for our buttons, labels, and threads. For instance, we use sea shell buttons instead of plastic ones, and our labels and threads are sourced with sustainability in mind.
SUSTAINABLE SHIPPING
Our company is committed to using environmentally friendly corn-based packaging that is biodegradable and compostable, making it an advantageous choice compared to traditional petroleum-based plastics. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), plastic bags can take up to 1,000 years to decompose, and only 9% of plastic waste is recycled, leading to vast amounts of plastic ending up in landfills where it can persist for centuries. In contrast, our biodegradable corn-based packaging breaks down in a matter of months, significantly reducing its impact on the environment.
In addition, we contribute a portion of our profits to support environmental initiatives and participate in the Shopify program to track and reduce our carbon emissions and environmental impact, as part of our ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.
